Nurturing Tomorrow

Discover the Beginnings Early Learners difference. Our purpose-built, state-of-the-art centre features classrooms that have light-filled rooms, fresh air, and learning areas inspired by the principles of the Reggio Emilia Approach in Early Childhood. We believe the environment is the third teacher, providing a welcoming and inclusive space for all children. Our service is grounded in a strong philosophy that reflects the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) – Belonging, Being and Becoming.

The Curriculum

Play is a vital part of a child’s life and is the way they make sense of their world. It develops new skills, stimulates intellectual growth, and builds social confidence. We value play very highly in our daily experiences with the children, and this is the base for most activities. It’s this spontaneous play and exploration that forms our emergent curriculum—much like what’s explored in our blog on the Types of Play in Early Childhood and Why They Matter.

An emergent curriculum builds upon the interests of children. Our Reggio Emilia inspired program encourages exploration and curiosity, laying a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Our experienced Educators work closely with families to ensure each child’s individual needs are met, and we offer an integrated Kindergarten program to prepare children for their next steps in education—something we cover in depth in What Is Early Childhood Education?.

The Program

We believe the program needs to:

  • Be developmentally appropriate and caring
  • Be concerned with every aspect of each child’s development
  • Reflect the multicultural nature of our Australian society
  • The environment as the third teacher being Reggio Emilia inspired
  • Be challenging, interesting, and varied, providing lots of choices
  • Involve parents in its planning, implementation and evaluation

“Influenced by this belief, the child is beheld as beautiful , powerful, competent, creative, curious, and full of potential and ambitious desires.” – Valarie Hewitt

The programs encourages children to:

  • Makes choices
  • Develop creative abilities
  • Problem solve
  • Negotiate and cooperate with others
  • Explore their learning through the 100 languages of children

Healthy Habits

Ensuring our children have the right fuel to keep them going throughout the day is very important. All fresh, delicious meals are prepared by a qualified chef and enjoyed together in communal eating areas. We cater for dietary requirements and allergies.

Children are encouraged to enjoy our natural environment by planting their own vegetable gardens, then using the fresh ingredients in their lunches—a hands-on experience with proven benefits we explore in Benefits of Gardening for Children.

We also run speciality Music and Movement programs, sports activities, and sessions to promote focused breathing and self-expression. This healthy, active approach reinforces the value of play-based learning in a child’s present and future life.

Our Philosophy

We believe:

  • At Beginnings Early Learners that all children are unique individuals who should be treated with respect and care.
  • We value and encourage each child’s thoughts and input and empower them to be the drivers of their own learning journey.
  • Children have the right to access a high quality positive early childhood education in a safe, secure, and stimulating environment.
  • We are committed to providing a homely environment full of rich natural play spaces and resources.
  • All children are confident capable learners that deserve every opportunity to further develop their cognitive, social, physical, self-help, language, and emotional development.
  • Educators and Parents build strong respectful partnerships to get a good understanding of their unique family culture, identity, and a sense of belonging.
  • Educators are empowered to be resourceful, innovative and connect with the community through excursions, incursions, and community events.
  • Cultural diversity is our centre strength, which is shown within the diverse children, staff and displays and should be given the time and respect it deserves.
  • Communication is the basis for our programming, parent and children’s input is invaluable and assists us in creating a sense of belonging.
